Brian Clough Sensory Garden

Well done Lizzie Henshaw............

The garden at Haddon Primary School, Carlton, has been overhauled by a project chosen by the charity Sporting HEARTS, which received a grant from the Brian Clough Memorial Fund earlier in the year. The eight-week project has involved all seven classes at the school who were led by Lizzy Henshaw from Trowell Garden Centre who project-managed the re-vamp. The school currently has a gardening club and the children will maintain the area as the seasons progress.

On Friday 20th June Forest's former player, manager and chairman Frank Clark officially opened the re-vamped sensory garden at the school. The garden is designed to stimulate all five senses. There are herbs to taste, a range of different grasses with varying textures to touch, roses to smell and plant bamboo, for the sound it makes in the wind. All the plants were supplied by Trowell Garden Centre and now the Brian Clough Sensory Garden will be open for all the children to enjoy and benefit from.
